Here are some of the things Strike FX Pro Shops has become involved with over the 2010 season. Keep checking our blogs, facebook, or email us to get future information on new league information!!!

Strike FX has become heavily involved in offering unique leagues during the summertime, designed to focus on certain skill sets each session. 2011 will mark the Summer time session’s 5th year. In the past 4 years we have seen a PBA Challenge League, Plastic Ball Only League, Rotating Lane Condition League, and this past summer a 1-Ball Challenge league consisting of 5 games a night on the USBC Red/White/Blue patterns. This past years champion was Billy Trudell. Billy put the pedal to the metal the final night of the season, beating Strike FX Owner Jonathan Van Hees 4 times in 6 games, including a sudden death final game roll off to win the 2010 1-Ball Challenge!!! Congrats Billy!!! Each summer session consists of 12 weeks, has a weekly cost of $25.00 which includes high game pots each game for everyone in the league. 1st place every summer is $500 guaranteed based on 16 bowlers. During the 4 years, every bowler has won at least 1 high game pot during the session. The league usually averages between 12-24 people each year. This year’s theme will be announced shortly after the new year, for more info please email us @ STRIKEFXPROSHOPS@YAHOO.COM

Also, beginning in the Fall 2010-2011 season, Strike FX, along with the brands of Ebonite International (Ebonite, Hammer, Columbia 300, and Track), Ad Art Embroidery, and AMF Cranston Lanes, has introduced the most competitive men’s league established in RI history. The RHODE ISLAND MEN’S CLASSIC LEAGUE competes on Monday Nights at 7pm at AMF Cranston Lanes. Boasting a $10,000 1st place prize, 15 teams took to the lanes on the USBC Blue Pattern on a 36 week mission to prove who can outlast the very deep field in a 30 point match point system. Among the 60 bowlers who take to the lanes every night, the league boasts on the team rosters 15 NEBA Champions including Dave Forcier, Jonathan Van Hees, Tim Healey, Kenny Baker JR, Danny Gauthier, Billy Tessier, Kelly Van Hees, Mike Cordeiro, Mark Blanchette, Mike Silva, Josh Corum, Chuck Burr, Brian Gaskill, Chris Monroy and Dennis Bedard. There are not many, if any league’s in New England that can match that kind of fire power in one night!!! While trying to decide how we could sum up our Pro Shops 2010 season we went through alot of different idea’s. With so much going on, we knew we had to touch on new clients, the challenge of new league idea’s, the economic environment, and making sure everyone could balance family life. With so much information, how can we get it all across??? Well we cant!!!! So we finally decided highlighting some of our Pro Shop Players personal achievements, and pro shop experience throughout the year was the best way to show the spectrum of talent and experiences that we have pass through the doors of our pro shops. The best bowlers in RI and South Eastern Mass are apart of the Strike FX family, and the results prove it. If you havent given us a chance to improve your game, read a few of our blogs and check out our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Strike-FX-Pro-Shops/124981117512940?v=wall and see why the best are apart of our family! Bowling is our only job and something we take seriously!!! Dont let someone tell you how they can make you better, make them prove it!!! We are up for that challenge!!!

Here is a brief run down of just a few of the exciting things that went on with our bowlers around New England and Nationwide.

In New England we have a monthly (approx) scratch tournament that has been running since 1963. Its called the New England Bowlers Association (NEBA). It has been mentioned numerous times in Bowlers Journal and throughout many bowling websites throughout the years for various achievements during competition, and its great success over the course of such a long period of time. We have many customers and employees who compete in NEBA, and with great success. To get more information on NEBA, the website is www.bowlneba.com Here are some of their tournament achievements this past season:

Dave Forcier won the 2009 Points Leaders Invitational in January 2010, his first tournament as a member of the Strike FX Pro Shop Family and 12th NEBA Title overall. Dave is currently tied with Bill Webb for 4th all time on the champions list.

Scott Santos win’s his 8th NEBA Title at East Providence Lanes in February 2010.

Josh Corum win’s his 1st NEBA Title at Bowlerama in Newington, CT in May 2010. Josh also went on to record NEBA’s highest tournament block of the season with 1332 (5 Games) during the 2010 season.

Strike FX Pro Shops Owner Jonathan Van Hees win’s his 2nd NEBA Title in August 2010.

Jonathan Van Hees win’s the Ebonite Tournament of Champions in November 2010 for his 3rd career NEBA title.

During the season Strike FX also sponsored many team throughout local and state tournaments in Massachussetts and Rhode Island. In the Rhode Island State tournament, Strike FX swept all the scratch division events with Josh Corum making the biggest noise. Corum was apart of the winning team (Along with Del Picard Jr, Scott Fisher, and Alex Raedel), doubles (Del Picard Jr), and All Events Scratch. Jonathan Van Hees also had a 2nd Place Scratch All Events finish in the Mass State Tournament. Van Hees was edged out by a great friend of our pro shops Mike Silva, who had a fantastic tournament and finished up with a 9 game Scratch All Events score of 2300!!! Mike is currently bowling on the Strike FX Westport team in Cranston, RI on Monday Nights during the Fall 2010-2011 season in the Rhode Island Men’s Classic League. During the 2010-2011 season already, Randy Hagemoser won the RI Association Tournament Scratch All Events held at Kingston Bowl in November. Randy is an up and coming player in the state, and has had success in the NEBA circuit for a few years now with a title not too far off in his future.

Strike FX also had a good showing for the 2nd year in a row at the USBC National Tournament in Reno, NV. In 2009 Strike FX Pro Shop (Scott Santos, Melanie Connelly, Tim Healey, Kenny Baker JR, Jonathan Van Hees) had a solid showing, finishing 34th overall in the Regular Team Event. Jonathan Van Hees also finished 11th overall with a score of 2133 (9 Games) in the Regular All Events that year.  In 2010, Strike FX (Scott Santos, Victor Giorgio, Tim Healey, Kenny Baker JR, Jonathan Van Hees) improved on that finish by moving up with a 32nd place finish. On a seperate Strike FX team Matt Janas was the individual star with a 42nd place finish in the Regular All Events with a score of 2084 (9 games).

From a pro shop standpoint, Strike FX gained very prestigious clientele during the 2010 season. Adding multiple NEBA champions to our family, getting a chance to work with RI legendary ball driller and mind Ed Veltri, success in local leagues around RI and southern Mass, and the opportunity to work with the Delaware State University Hornets Women’s bowling team all contributed to a breakout year for the pro shops. Strike FX Pro Shops had the winning team in the Jim McPhail Memorial league in East Providence Lanes during the 2009-2010 season on Monday Nights. The team was anchored by pro shop standout Donie Corneau.

Coached by Ricki Williams-Ellison, The Hornets, currently ranked 4th in the Nation and sponsored by Ebonite International and Vise Inserts, put Fran Varin and Owner Jonathan Van Hees to work over the course of two days, laying out and drilling over 40 bowling balls. Included with the layouts and drilling of every ball, each bowler was analyzed as much as possible in the short time frame allowed based on bowler style, lane play preference, conditions most likely to see, along with the installation of over 40 sets of inserts, 12 Vise IT Thumb systems, and surface recommendations for a broad range of environments the young women might encounter. While the young women seemed to appreciate the hard work, we honestly think the boys enjoyed it more, getting a chance to work with such good, energetic, and intelligent bowlers. They werent bad people either LOL. What a great experience for our shops!!!! GO HORNETS!!!!

While we dont actively sell merchandise on our website, we will be making an effort to offer more updates, fresher information, and current events throughout the New England bowling community and from our bowlers as they travel the USA competing against the best players every state has to offer. Please feel free to check us out, join us on facebook, or visit one of our 3 locations and see if our shop can help improve your knowledge, and enjoyment of the sport.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns…please dont hesitate to contact us @ STRIKEFXPROSHOPS@YAHOO.COM and schedule a meeting with any one of our pro shop technicians.
